Monument inaugurated in 1993. Dedicated to the Greek Cypriot EOKA fighters who fought for independence between 1955 and 1959.
This "Monument of Freedom" (Μνημείο Ελευθερίας/Mnimio Eleftherias, Monument of Freedom) is dedicated to the fighters of the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters (EOKA) who fought for independence between 1955 and 1959. Inaugurated in 1993, it comprises an exhibition hall, a chapel and a 650 m walkway leading to a vertical structure lined with a bas-relief. Many local people, including miners from Amiantos, took part in the fighting against the British and Turkish Cypriots.
