This commercial port (Νέο Λιμάνι/Neo Limani, New Port) is the largest in Cyprus. Created after the capture of Famagusta by the Turkish army in 1974, it handles 90% of goods imported from the southern part of the island. It is linked by ferry to the Greek port of Piraeus three times a week from late May to early September (30-hour journey): information from the Cypriot company Scandro Holding (scandroholding.com) or its Greek partner Kouridakis (kouridakis.gr). The port is also the departure point for Intercity buses to Nicosia, Paphos and Larnaka.
