PLACE ZOUHOURI

This pleasant pedestrian square (Πλατεία Ζουχουρί/Platia Zouhouri) has once again become the center of the city. Completely renovated in 2023 thanks to EU funding, it is dominated by the ^19th-century Zouhouri mosque. The whole area was abandoned after the Turkish Cypriot inhabitants were forced to leave in 1974. Today, the square is home to cafés and restaurants. Blending ancient and contemporary architecture, the square is also the setting for art exhibitions, notably the Larnaka Biennial (biennalelarnaca.com).
