Waterfront promenade named after the great Ottoman admiral Piyale Paşa, who took part in the capture of Cyprus in 1571.
This waterfront promenade (Πιαλέ Πασά/Piale Pasa) stretches for 1 km between Larnaka Fort (north) and the fishing port (south). It is named after the great Ottoman admiral Piyale Paşa (c. 1515-1578) who participated in the capture of Cyprus in 1571. Of Croatian or Hungarian origin, he previously helped France to retake Corsica from the Genoese (1553) and to fight against the Spanish (1555). This large concrete alley runs along Piale-Pasa Street and the pleasant old Turkish neighborhood of Skala, which has several bars and restaurants with a view of the sea.
