MUSÉE JUIF DE CHYPRE

Created in 2018, this private museum (Εβραϊκό Μουσείο Κύπρο/Evraïko Mousio Kypro, Jewish Museum of Cyprus) is still under construction. Housed in a center of the Jewish Community of Cyprus, which also houses a synagogue, it is to feature a pavilion tracing the history of Jews on the island since antiquity. It already includes an interesting feature: a large tin shelter that was in use between August 1946 and February 1949. During this period, the British interned 52,000 European Jews in Cyprus, seeking to emigrate to Palestine.
