Californians love this employee-owned store that also serves as a bakery: baguettes, focaccia, sunflower seed bread, olive bread, and warm cheese, onion and curry bread. At 1512 Shattuck Avenue, it's the pizzeria: they are all vegetarian and the dough and sauce are prepared daily. The pizzas on the menu change every day... Another strong point, live music groups regularly perform there.

Anyone say “sourdough crust perfection”? Go for the cheese selection, stay for the cheese rolls, pizza and ginger cookies. The ultimate Berkeley Gourmet Ghetto stop.

Cheeseboard is forever the best. The cheese rolls are unparalleled. The pizza is always vegetarian and always great. I recommend getting a half baked pizza to go and baking it at home
