This castle was built by the wealthy entrepreneur William Larnach, in 1871, for his wife Eliza Jane Guise. In total, it took five years and 200 men to complete this colossal work. Today it is still a private residence where the Barker family lives and has been lovingly restoring the property since 1967. It is one of the main attractions of the country, indeed castles are not numerous in the country! You can visit the whole property including the castle and its gardens, stay there or organize events.
