THAT WANAKA TREE
Just over seventy years ago, the Wanaka Willow Tree was used as a common fence post. But in 2014, all that changed when a photographer won New Zealand's best photography award with a shot of what would become the famous Wanaka Tree. Since then, the tree has aroused everyone's curiosity. It's true that its growth in the middle of the water is intriguing: a solitary tree half-submerged in the water against a backdrop of a lake and magnificent mountains. As a result, it is the delight of many photo enthusiasts: #thatwānakatree.
