Nelson and the surrounding region are fantastic places to visit all year round. During the summer months, the magnificent beaches are a must. Cable Bay, Tahunanui, Rabbit Island, the Boulder Bank and Kaiteriteri, to name but a few. There are also superb swimming pools and river swimming holes to cool off in. Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi National Parks, Golden Bay and the Marlborough Sounds are only a short drive away. If walking or cycling is your passion, there are many wonderful trails throughout the region, including Abel Tasman National Park, the Heaphy Trail, the Dun Mountain Trail and the Great Taste Coastal Trail. Galleries, pottery studios, museums and crafts are also plentiful. The Suter Art Gallery, Founders Park, the World of Wearable Arts and Classic Cars Museum are also not to be missed. Stores, bars, craft breweries, vineyards, cafés, restaurants, gardens, sculptures, festivals, sports, shows, skiing, boating, fishing... the list goes on! The list goes on.
