SEYMOUR SQUARE
Petit Futé's opinion on SEYMOUR SQUARE

Seymour Square has a few local historic remains, including the famous gun that would have used exchange money for the acquisition of Wairau Plains lands, against the will of Maori. The latter, who thought he was duped, wanted to recover their land and set aside the meeting of Europeans, which gave rise to the tragic Wairau Affray Massacre. The gun, named Blenkinsopp, would come from the Caroline vessel. Nearby, you can also visit Pollard Park, which houses Rose Garden, Camelia Grove and Rhododendron Dell.
