LEVIN

Levin, located between the Tasman Sea and the Tararua Range, is an active centre that generates many jobs in horticulture and agriculture as well as in industry and services. Its fertile plains were - and are still - an important passage from the north to the south and the Maori often fought among themselves for their possession. The arrival of Europeans in the 1850 s did not provide the situation. Levin is located between sea and mountains.
