Built in 1909, the County Hotel is one of the few buildings to have survived the 1931 earthquake, making it one of the city's oldest buildings. It has retained its Edwardian charm while adapting its interiors over time to meet the comfort requirements of the luxury industry. Today, it's the city's most upmarket hotel, and prices can be very high depending on the season and the room chosen. There's a restaurant and bar on the first floor, serving top-class food and beverages.
