TONGARIRO NATIONAL TROUT CENTRE

Trout are the local star and this attraction is dedicated to them. With its freshwater aquarium, museum section and pleasant bush walks on the banks of the Tongariro River, it's an ideal visit in bad weather and for all fishing enthusiasts. You can visit the old fish hatchery, a fly-fishing museum and a freshwater aquarium where you can observe some of the endemic species that inhabit Aotearoa's waterways.
