TAKAPUNA BEACH

A fifteen to twenty minute drive from downtown Auckland, Takapuna is a seaside community located on the North Shore, just a short drive from Devonport. More popular, Aucklanders go there easily on weekends and weekday evenings to enjoy the beach, its water activities and its few good bars and restaurants. There is also Lake Pupuke (a volcanic crater filled with fresh water) and a Sunday market, very pleasant in summer. Many walks are possible from the beach.
