Kombolcha is an industrial city dominated by textile production and a commercial crossroads connecting the north-south axis to the east of the country as far as Djibouti. The town has a large university, attracting many young people from the region. It is half an hour from Dessié, a large city of 300,000 inhabitants. The town is also home to the BGI brewery, which produces Castel and Saint-Georges beers, owned by the French Castel group. If you arrive in Kombolcha on Sunday evening, you can easily go to the Bati market on Monday morning and reach Lalibela the same evening.
