DIOCESAN SAMOGITIAN MUSEUM (VYSKUPYSTĖS VYSKUPYSTĖS MUZIEJUS)

The museum is housed in the building of the old theological seminary, founded in 1770. When, in the nineteenth century, Tsariste administration closes Vilnius University, the theological seminary in Varniai and the Vilnius Faculty of Medicine remained the only higher institutions in the country. The museum recounts the history of the diocese of Samogitie, of which Varniai was the centre for 450 years.
