Built in 1738 by the architect Rastrelli, it is the former palace of the Dukes of Courland. It was built on an ancient castle, built in 1263 by the knights of the Livonian order before being destroyed by the Poles in 1345. Then in 1561, a new building was constructed on the ruins before the present palace was built. Since 1939, the palace has housed the University of Agriculture. Today, the vault of the family of the Duke of Courland is open to the public.
