MAHALIA JACKSON THEATER

This theatre houses the New Orleans Opera Association and the New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA). It is located in the Louis Armstrong Park near the municipal auditorium. NOBA presents classical ballets and invites contemporary companies. The Opera Association presents a programme of three or four operas every year, sometimes accompanied by an international singer. Closed for four years following the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, this 2 250-seat theatre reopened in 2009. It bears the name of one of the greatest voices of the gospel.
