A mythical venue known as the RKO Orpheum. Designed by the architect G. Albert Lansburgh, the Vaudeville theater opened in the 1920s. Once a movie theater, it was scheduled to be demolished in 1983 but was eventually purchased and renovated by the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, it now offers a variety of performing arts programming. The Macon concert scene in the movie Green Book was filmed here.
