VISITE DU SANCTUAIRE

Most visitors come to the island for half a day, which gives them the opportunity to attend the 11:00 or 2:30 am feedings. This one lasts half an hour during which we can observe and photograph our closest cousins from quite close (but behind a fence). It is preceded by a presentation of the centre and the various issues related to the preservation of the species. Motor boats leave the landing stage near the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre at 9am and 12.45pm for a journey of about 45 minutes. For those who do not mind spending the night on the island, there is a large safari tent overlooking the lake. In return, you will be able to attend the two monkey feeding sessions as well as their dinner and breakfast. In addition, you will be able to observe the 120 species of birds found on the island, discover a fishing village and enjoy the sunset. To experience even more intensely the encounter with the chimpanzees, it is possible to be integrated for a day in the care team and to take part in the different activities (feeding, medical check-up...). Any agency with which you have organized your stay should be able to contact the Ngamba Island reservation office, located in Entebbe (Plot 1, Bank Close). Expect a high cost, especially if you are few in number. Volunteer programs are also offered by the Chimpanzee Trust.
