National Register of Historic Places Museum, part of the Bronx
Built in 1797, it was the last resting place of Edgar Allan Poe. He resided there with his mother and wife from 1846 until his death at the age of 40 in 1849. He did not die there, unlike his wife Virginia who died of tuberculosis in 1847. It is a modest workers' house, located in a part of the Bronx formerly known as Fordham Village. It was converted into a museum in 1917. We can now evolve among the furniture, writings and relics of the great writer. The house was listed in the National Register of Historic Sites in 1966.
