Stonewall National Monument in front of Stonewall Inn commemorating the beginning of the civil rights movement for homosexuals.
Despite its small size, Christopher Park is one of the most iconic places in the West Village. Every day, colorful residents of the neighborhood gather there, sometimes for drag shows and other unforgettable performances. Located across the street from the Stonewall Inn, where the 1969 riot that marked the beginning of the gay civil rights movement took place, the park is also home to the Stonewall National Monument, which commemorates those events.
