Built in 1927 by immigrant Jewish immigrants from Greece. The Romaniotes are an obscure branch of Judaism, a sect that is over 2 000 years old, appearing under ancient Rome. This community had been abducted from Israel and embarked on a boat to serve as slaves in Rome. The ship caught in a storm broke out in Greece in Janina. They therefore formed a community in the rites and worship distinct from the other branches of Judaism. The little museum is exciting and tells their story very well with many objects and relics. It is also the only romaniote museum in the world and the only Romaniote synagogue in the West.
