50-story, 195-meter-high building in Manhattan, with an Art Deco and Neo-Gothic style, housing the offices of the RCA
This 195 m high skyscraper, built in 1931, is a blend of Art Deco and Gothic Revival styles that were in vogue at the time. This 50-storey red brick building is decorated on its roof with lightning flashes, which are supposed to represent the electricity emitted by radio waves, as the building was designed to house the offices of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). However, before the skyscraper was finished, CAR was bought by General Electric, the electricity giant.
