THE PLAZA HOTEL
Beautiful and luxurious hotel in New York, part of the historic sites, with a huge reception room: The Grand Ballroom.
The most beautiful hotel in New York, but also the most iconic! This hotel was built in 1907 in the style of French Renaissance castles. Along with the Waldorf Astoria, it is the only hotel in New York to be a protected historic site. When it opened, a room cost US$2.50 a night (the equivalent of US$63 today). Today, it costs at least $600 to stay in one of the luxurious rooms. Since its inauguration, the hotel has always welcomed the biggest stars visiting New York. The Beatles stayed there on their first trip to the United States in February 1964. It was also at the Plaza, in the immense reception room - The Grand Ballroom - that Truman Capote organized his famous Black & White Ball in honor of Katharine Graham, the editor of the Washington Post. This party was called by the media at the time The Party of the Century. More anecdotally, it is in this luxurious establishment that Kevin stays in Mommy Missed the Plane Again! By the way, you may remember that the young boy meets Donald Trump in the lobby... Renovated in 2008, the interior design of the building has remained faithful to the original design, rather pompous and loaded (1650 crystal chandeliers). So don't hesitate to enter the lobby of the hotel to get a sneak preview. If you can't sleep there, a very New York tradition is to have an afternoon tea in the beautiful Palm Court.
Accolé à Central Park, le Plaza Hotel trône majestueusement dans son environnement. On imagine aisément le faste qu'il représente depuis son ouverture.
