In 1968 Brooke Alexander Inc. opens a first space dedicated to the publication and sale of American engravings. From 1975 to 1985, in an open gallery on 57 th Street, Brooke Alexander exhibited painters and sculptors such as Yvonne Jacquette, Sylvie Plimack Mangold, Richard Haas, but also younger artists: John Ahearn, Richard Bosman, Tom Otterness, Richard Tobias…
Since 1985, the gallery has moved to SoHo, and has made new arrivals known: Louisa Chase, Allan McCollum, Matt Mullican, Markus Raetz, Richard Tuttle, Robin Winters. More recently, works by Doug Aitken, Chapman Brothers, Jorge Pardo, Richard Tuttle, Karra Walter… In 1989 Brooke Alexander Editions opened a new space at 476 Broome Street, where the publications of Richard Artschwager, John Baldessari, Richard Bosman…, the multiples of Georg Herold, the wood engravings of Donald Judd and Robert Mangold, the lithographs de de, were presented. Robert Longo, Bruce Nauman's strong waters or the works carved by Jasper Johns, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol… Since 1990, she has exhibited contemporary artists oriented politically and socially. , including Leon Golub, Annette Lemieux and Annette Messenger, Chris Burden, Nancy Dwyer, Alexis Smith, Nancy Spero…
