Superb rooms in a luxury hotel with gym, restaurant and bar in New York City.
A luxurious hotel in a very Parisian chic style. The establishment is distinguished as much by the charm of its rooms, which are more like an apartment than an impersonal hotel room with carpets, paintings, sofas and armchairs, as by the different aspects of the hotel: a large gym, a superb library, a restaurant run by the great chef Daniel Humm and a hotel bar that serves excellent cocktails and is full on Fridays and Saturday evenings.

This was my second time staying at The Ned NoMad and it certainly didn’t live up to my expectations, as well as the sound proofing between rooms needing work which I experienced on my first visit, this time around I had pipes that at odd hours including in the early hours of the morning would start making horrendous wailing noises keeping me awake. By the third night I’d had enough and went to reception to request a fix (including playing them a recording i’d made) and was told they couldn’t move me but could send an engineer but couldn’t tell me when or if the problem would be fixed. After returning to reception 2 hours later I was told they hadn’t taken note of this conversation and didn’t know about it but would be happy to move me. I could only manage to pack everything that evening and in the meantime received an email by Keiry (assistant front office manager) saying that I’d be upgraded to a ‘deluxe room’, I was pleased but once all packed and moved (which is a hell of a lot of effort mid trip) realised this was a smaller room and same room layout I’d had on my first trip to the Ned which had a terrible with the shower in the bedroom. At least the pipes were quiet but having to move mid stay is stressful and unpleasant (+ moving to a worse room)!
