This colonial house is even older than New York, since it was built in 1625, during the time of New Amsterdam. Between past and future, tourism and finance, Fraunces Tavern is a special place in the district. The tradition of hospitality would go back to the founder of the establishment, Samuel Fraunces, George Washington's friend and butler.
