TABERNAS DESERT

Well known by Hollywood studios for having been the setting for many spaghetti westerns, the Tabernas desert serves as a backdrop to embody the Dothraki Sea, the vast steppe that Daenerys crosses on several occasions and especially in season 6, episode 1 to 3, after being captured by the Dothrakis.

Over 280 km², it is like the American Wild West and scenic villages, built for the different westerns shot here (notably by Sergio Leone) can be visited - Fort Bravo for example. Also worth seeing are the villages of Oasys and Western Leone, a kind of mini theme amusement parks.
