Cathedral with an interior combining Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical and Renaissance styles
We will be surprised by the massive aspect of the monument since it is also a fortress that served as a shelter for the population during the maritime attacks of the barbarian pirates. It stands on the land occupied by a former mosque, destroyed in 1522 by an earthquake. The cathedral was built between 1524 and 1562. Then, a veritable arsenal of powder, harquebus and muskets was stored there. Its interior combines Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical and Renaissance styles. It has a beautiful choir, in Plateresque style.
