Located in the Alhambra, the Generalife (of Arabic yannat al-Arif,' garden of the architect ') was a country residence of the Nasrid kings. It dates back to the th century. In 1319, the tower was added to the. Philippe III made the Cypress Gallery. Water games with light and plants are the most amazing feature of this set of gardens. The patio of the Acequia, with its central canal, its water jets and its flowery beds, is a marvel of its kind.

Opening time and information on GENERALIFE

Access times to the Nasrid Palaces are the same as those of the Alhambra. Visits to the Gardens from October 16 to April 15, Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm and from 4pm to 6pm. Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 10am to 6pm; from 16 April to 15 October, Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10am to 8pm. Nocturnal visits to the Generalife Gardens and Palace, from May 1 to September 30, every Friday from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm. The Alhambra is closed on 25 December and 1 January.

Les jardins sont sublimes avec une flore luxuriante, des jets d’eau, un véritable lieu de détente et de fraîcheur. Le Palais Generalife est très beau et la vue que l’on a sur le reste de l’Alhambra est superbe.
