Don't miss this museum which allows you to discover the different stages of Pablo Picasso's life, his breaks in his art...

In the heart of the old town, in this sixteenth century palace, where new exhibition halls, an auditorium, a projection room and a bookstore have been added, now housed the fourth museum in the world dedicated to Pablo Picasso. From his prolific work, all times are illustrated, all the media represented: from the early 1920 s to the 1970 s, from the simple painting to the finished painting, to the artist's essays to ceramics or sculpture, and to some engravings. At 14, according to his parents, Pablo Picasso was already painting like Raphaël, but he spent the rest of his life (up to 92 years) painting like a child… This heterogeneity of the works exhibited (and not always signed, since the master applied his signature often when the works were sold), most still unknown to the general public, present Picasso from a more intimate angle, in his daily and family life. This is all the more disturbing because it is presented a few meters from the artist's home. The 233 works of the permanent collection given generously (loaned for some) by Christine Ruiz-Picasso (the widow of Paulo, son of Picasso) and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso (grandson) occupy the walls of the ancient part of the palace, whose forested works of the ceiling are otherwise remarkable. Very well developed, thematic exhibitions dedicated to Picasso, his colleagues, and contemporary art in general, are in the program and exhibited in ancillary rooms. Temporary exhibitions are renewed every three months: at the opening of the museum, the exhibition «Picasso des Picasso» proposed to bring together all the works present in the artist's workshop at his death (and since then scattered around the world), «Picasso, Anthology 1895-1971» shows the evolution of genius… It is not the largest Picasso museum, its content is exceptional and the construction of the course very well done.

Council. It is recommended that the visit with the audioguide be carried out, which shows very clearly the different stages of the painter's life, his breaks in his art and his work problems. Not to miss when you are in Malaga. The innovative architectural project as well as its bar terrace and library will also be appreciated. Archeology enthusiasts will find their account in this space, since during the excavation of the basements, prior to the work, ruins dating from Phoenician, Roman and Arab epochs have been exposed: they are now an integral part of the museum.
