IGLESIA DE LOS DESCALZOS
Church remarkable for its interior decorations, made in the seventeenth century
Inaugurated at the beginning of the seventeenth century, this church is especially remarkable for its interior decorations, made in the eighteenth century, which make it a real jewel of Andalusian baroque. First of all, it will discover its lavish ornamentation made of wall paintings and decorations in polychrome and golden plaster plasters, geometrical and vegetable shapes, very exuberant. Accompanied by paintings, sculptures and carpentry, with the xviiith century organ, the symbols of baroque in Écija. You will also notice the main niche which houses a sculpture of the Virgin del Carmen, the eighteenth century, and the sculpture of Imaculada, of the same period, decorating the attic. Created by Ignacio Tomás, the outer facade of the church comes from the convent of carmelites, which is now missing.
