Theater with 700 seats and a terrace, built in the baroque style, designed by the architect Vicente Traver y Tomas
The ensemble - the casino and the Lope de Vega theater - was used as a pavilion at the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. The theater was imagined by the architect Vicente Traver y Tomás and decorated with artists Martínez del Cid and Zaragoza. The project of the exhibition as a whole was carried by architect Aníbal González.
Built in baroque style, this 700-seat theater features a café on a very pleasant terrace. It would be a shame not to attend a show; Every year it hosts the European Film Festival in November and offers performances at the Biennale du Flamenco in September. Construit en à peine deux ans pour l’Exposition ibéro-américaine, le théâtre est délaissé au profit des salles privées lors de la guerre civile. L’espace dévolu au casino est même transformé en hôpital. Les crues du Guadalquivir et les flammes qui détruisent une partie du toit obligent une première restauration en 1939. Après une nouvelle restauration en 1985, le théâtre rénové est inauguré le 21 février 1988 et depuis lors il a repris toute sa place dans la scène culturelle sévillane.
