Beautiful house with a swimming pool and a solarium on the terrace housing a single 4 star hotel and restaurant

Between Plaza Ponce de León and Casa de Pilatos, this beautiful 18th-century mansion houses some forty colonial-style rooms arranged around two welcoming, shaded patios. Featuring columns, ceramics, pebble floors, slate tiles, wood panelling and other period features, the only 4-star hotel in the Hospes chain (which collects 5-star hotels!), inaugurated in 2001, perfectly blends modernity and authenticity, with the added bonus of a personalized welcome. The tasteful, classic decor features cozy rooms, outbuildings, cosy lounges and a library. A high standard of service, highlighted by numerous options for relaxing in total serenity... just like in the beauty area including a massage center, or in the swimming pool, on the solarium on the terrace with beautiful views. For gastronomic delights, the Azahar restaurant offers a menu of Andalusian cuisine with creative touches. Elegance, charm and voluptuousness await you! And if you're not staying at the hotel, the beauty salon is open to all, with regular special offers.

TL;dr: disappointing. I was looking forward to staying here and wanted to love this property. We had a surprisingly excellent experience at the Doubletree in Madrid, but this Marriott property in Sevilla was disappointing. Perhaps because we paid with Bonvoy points, we were put in room #30 which was a bit cramped, especially the bathroom, which barely had room to turn around in and no counter space. Not great for two people, let alone one. Despite management telling another reviewer that all the rooms are soundproofed, they are definitely not. The walls in room #30 are paper thin and adjoin a neighboring apartment building. We were awakened by a woman yelling on one side, children screaming past midnight and their father yelling at them on the other, and then loud hammering etc. early the next morning. The hotel staff claimed not to know about the construction project despite how loud it was and the fact that you could hear it from the courtyard, but said they would “make a call to ensure it didn’t start too early in the morning.” Upon hearing we slept very poorly due to all the noise, they explained that that side of the hotel shares walls with an adjoining apartment building and immediately offered to move us to room 44 (?) on the other side of the hotel. The new room was much quieter (although not soundproof) and, in contrast with room #30, had a huge bathroom with double sinks and lots of counter space. That made me wonder why we, especially as Bonvoy members, were given a cramped, loud room upon arrival. Perhaps because we were a mom and daughter traveling, we didn’t get the same respect as a man would have? Another reviewer said hotel staff didn’t believe his wife when she said their AC unit was broken. He suspected it was because she was a woman. I had the same experience with the landline phone in our room when I called the front desk to obtain the WiFi login. When they couldn’t hear me, they sent someone up which was very helpful. However, when I told the staff person that the phone wasn’t working, he must not have believed me, because he asked to come in the room and test it himself. He said, you’re right, it’s not working! (Guys, we women know how to use a phone and know when the handset isn’t working.) Finally, the hotel is quite a walk from the Cathedral and Real Alcazar, etc. so would not be an ideal location for older guests who would need to take taxis to get back and forth. Bottom line, it’s just ok despite the veneer of luxury, and we recommend staying elsewhere for the money.

We absolutely loved it here! An impressively imposing and beautiful building from the outside but a very unassuming and friendly welcome awaits everytime you come through the front door.

It had the feel of a family run hotel. Not too big, not too small - but with all of the amenities (and services) that you'd expect from a much larger establishment. Nothing was too much trouble.

There's a lovely variety of very relaxed meeting rooms, drawing rooms, interior courtyards and quiet spots within - to spend whiling away many hours - should you not fancy trailing off into the city.

The quality, tranquility and service at the roof-terrace pool is an especially nice place to treat yourself to some rest and extremely lazy relaxation!

We'd love to come back!

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Beautifully decorated, quiet boutique hotel. Heaven!

The most accommodating, professional, and friendly staff.

Cozy mansion with 2 cute innner courts and a fire place sitting room for quiet wine, coffee, dinner breaks.

Very well located away from the noise yet 10-15 min walk to everything.

Did I mention great staff who are actually helping and genuinely care?

Nice & cozy - but because of the old building structure, you can hear the noise from other rooms(i.e. toilet flushing …) Nice breakfast!
