Souillac was the landing and settlement area for the very first French colonisers and has preserved the traces of its history through several buildings and places of memory that are easy to discover on your own or, better still, during a guided electric bike ride with DunienZîl to immerse yourself further: the former colonial magistracy, warehouses and landing stage, the former railway station, the Church of Saint Jacques, the Telfair Garden, the marine cemetery housing the graves of the ancestors of the Franco-Mauritians on the island...
