Historic garden decorated with several statues and busts of famous people

This historic garden is a must-see. At the time of the Compagnie des Indes, the French established their quarters here. Initially a swamp, the site was developed into a botanical park under the impetus of Decaen, the last French governor of the island, who had the first trees planted there. Nowadays, people come here to take a break in the shade of the magnificent banyan trees which are the highlight of the place. Several statues and busts of famous people also adorn the square.

Des banyans imposants
Nous avons été impressionnés par ces géants aux racines tentaculaires. Bien agréable pour se proteger du soleil aux heures les plus chaudes.
