Its construction was ordered in 1904. The Italian Regano Ruggieri was chosen to design the main structure inspired by Italian-style operetta theaters. Inaugurated in 1908 with Verdi's opera Aida and renovated in 2019, it continues to host the most important theatrical performances. Its entrance is surrounded by statues and medallions in relief of the muses of letters and music. Inside, magnificent hanging balconies and above all a huge fresco in the dome by Panamanian artist Roberto Lewis (1874-1949).
