This museum located on the campus of Tel Aviv University is for everyone and tells the story of the Jewish people and their dispersion.

If you only have time to visit one museum in Tel Aviv, this is it!

Opened in 1978, the "house"(beit) of the Diaspora, recently renamed the Museum of the Jewish People, traces the history of the dispersion of Jewish communities around the world, from the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem, through the crucial episodes of Jewish history, such as the Babylonian Exile, the expulsion from Spain in 1492, the Holocaust, the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and subsequent events.

The Museum appeals to people of all backgrounds and faiths and you will learn much about the history of Jewish communities scattered across countries and ages.

A new wing opened in 2016 showcases an exceptional collection of models representing the various synagogues around the world, both those that have been destroyed and those that still exist. Expansion work has been carried out and a brand new museum has been welcoming visitors since 2021. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum also offers temporary exhibitions. We indicate here the exhibitions such as they will still be for the months to come. The program is rich and do not hesitate to visit the museum's website before going there to be aware of the news and possible changes. Count on at least two good hours and don't skimp on the audioguide! The museum is located on the campus of Tel Aviv University, where you will have a few choices for dining.
