Neve Tzedek was founded in 1887 outside the Arab city of Jaffa, and is Tel Aviv's oldest Jewish quarter. Its surprisingly quiet, picturesque alleys give it a village atmosphere. In 1989, the opening of the Suzanne Dellal dance center triggered the metamorphosis of this once notorious area. Artists and intellectuals moved in, and prices for small houses soared. Today, it's a pleasant place to stroll. You'll also find the Nahum Gutman and Rokach museums, dedicated to the birth of Tel Aviv.
