Independence Day celebrates the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. On the program, fireworks, songs, dances and barbecue.

Independence Day celebrates the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. For the occasion a big fireworks display is launched on the 5th of Lyar (according to the Hebrew calendar) over the Rabbi's Square, followed by a big popular festival with songs, dances and food. Numerous open-air concerts are held for the occasion. The next day, it is customary to gather with friends and family around a barbecue and to look up at the sky to watch the flypast.
