Founded in 1944, the Cameri is one of Israel's leading theaters. It was the first to produce original plays in Hebrew. Its repertoire includes Israeli plays and foreign adaptations. In 2003, it moved to the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, alongside the new Opera House, the large municipal library and the Tel Aviv Art Museum. The plays are performed in Hebrew, with simultaneous translations several times a week in English, Russian and Arabic, and occasionally in French.
