Travel Guide Affiniam

From the dugout, Affiniam reveals itself, but it is impossible to reach it directly. You have to walk on an arid and salty area. It's time to curse the Chinese dam which, further upstream, was built to prevent the salt water from rising too far. But the downstream part of the dam is increasing in salinity, and the whole ecosystem is being altered as a result. An oasis of freshness, this wooded village is a pleasant stopover offering a stroll in the subtropical forest. To reach Affiniam, a village pirogue makes the round trip from Ziguinchor. By road, the tracks are in good condition: one part of Tobor, the other in the south near Bignona.
