The tourist office located in Joal, opposite the footbridge leading to Fadiouth, federates guides and pirogues, concentrating the offer and rates to avoid the constant solicitation of visitors. An organization that works very well. The price list is unique and posted in the office. Several excursions are proposed: visit of the millet granaries on stilts, a walk in the mangroves, the grand tour of the island with a visit to the 800 year old sacred baobab tree, a horse-drawn carriage ride in the city... An obligatory stop to discover Joal!

It is more an alert opinion, especially on the tourism information centre and its methods... Ok to pay 5000Fcfa for a guide, but difficult to accept that requires people to pay this sum who do not want a guide and just go on the island, is to meditate in the Church, see the Mosque and the mixed cemetery. The managers in charge want nothing to know, We therefore paid the 5000Fcfa and cross the bridge, but only, without a guide to discover Fadiouth. Moreover, this sum is to be paid for the toubabs! odd not???!

Lorsque nous avons voulu traverser le pont nous nous sommes fait alpaguer par un gus se présentant comme un guide disant qu'il voulait nous montrer quelque chose à l'office du tourisme, et qu'on devait le suivre car en tant que visiteur c'est "obligatoire".
Acceptant à reculons de le suivre lui expliquant qu'on ne dépenserait pas un seul franc cfa ils ont voulus nous forcer à payer leurs soit-disant tarifs de visite de 5000 fcfa PAR PERSONNE en ayant l'outrecuidance de nous dire qu'on avait le choix entre deux option, la premiere etant payante, tout autant que la deuxième ! Ce à quoi on leur a répété qu'on ne souhaitais pas de guide, et qu'on ne les payerait pas. En tentant de passer malgré tout sur le pont nous sommes retenus pas la dizaine de loubards traînant autour du pont. C'est à ce moment là que nous avons décidés de partir, sans manquer de s'engueuler une dernière fois avec cette bande d'escroc.
Dommage pour Fadiouth, à fuir !
