Chihuahua is the capital of the eponymous state. This city which counts today nearly one million inhabitants is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental, at 1 420 m of altitude. The word Chihuahua means "arid and sandy area" in Náhuatl. Recently remodeled, the city center of Chihuahua does not have a uniform architecture. The city may not leave you with a lasting impression, but some of the buildings and museums are well worth a visit.
