Here, the vegetation of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains is luxuriant. The city, built in part on a mountainside, is located along a coastline of about thirty kilometers that offers many beaches and coves. Zihuatanejo has the appearance of a small seaside resort. The main beach of the city is not the most charming of the lot, but it is here that the small grid of streets that marks the tourist center begins. A picturesque fish market is held by the fishermen every day early in the morning. A little further south is the playa Madera, but go especially to the playa La Ropa, more chic and pleasant.
