PALACIO DE LA PREFECTURA DE CHUQUISACA

Chuquisaca owes the construction of its most important building of the 19th century to an initiative of the Baptista government. The most remarkable element, and probably the most successful, is the monumental imperial-style staircase, framed by two imposing marble columns. The apartments of the palace are arranged in a neoclassical style. In the middle of the façade are the country's coat of arms. All the decoration inside the arch is Art Nouveau.
