The Grotte du Peuplement is located at the southern exit of Saint-Paul, opposite the Cimetière Marin. Legend has it that it served as a refuge for the 1663 arrivals, but historical studies have proven this to be false. This site was named the "Cave of the First Frenchmen" in the 1960s, after having been called the "Cave of the Portuguese" or the "Cave of the 12 Exiles". As the cave remains inaccessible due to falling rocks, you can enjoy the pleasant park which was completely redeveloped in 2016, ideal for a family picnic.

Site que l'on ne peut pas atteindre car protégé par des grilles, donc peu d'intérêt. Si ce n'est le parc qui est très bien aménagé pour un moment de détente et de pique nique. Il y a des panneaux explicatifs tout au long de la promenade dans le parc.

La Grotte des premiers Français a refait une beauté. Il y a des aménagements pour pique-nique, les WC, les commentaires tout au long de la balade sur l'histoire de la grotte.

Depuis moins de 2 ans le site a été refait. Maintenant on peut pique-niquer et profiter de l'espace aménagé.

Très beau parc, mais les grottes sont clôturées, nous ne pouvons pas y accéder, cependant il y a des informations sur des grandes pancartes, ou l'histoire est raconté.
Le parc est très entretenues.
Le cimetière en face est à visiter.

The visit is no longer any interest! The cave is forbidden because of risks of falls. The park around has been abandoned for several years and is invaded by undergrowth! You will be disappointed! You can always enjoy parking to visit the marine cemetery is opposite.
