The Martinique Department of the Environment, Planning and Housing has the following mission:

- to develop and implement locally the State's policies on the environment, sustainable development and planning (biodiversity, natural heritage, sites and landscapes, construction, town planning, transport infrastructure and services, control and safety of industrial activities, energy and air quality control, pollution and risk prevention, inspection of classified installations, waste management, protection of the coastline and marine environment);
