MACOU ISLAND

A veritable treasure trove of vegetation populated by hermit crabs, Macou islet is an ideal place to observe flora and fauna in their most natural element. Located in the Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin Nature Reserve, the islet is seldom visited by tourists, but rather by the inhabitants of Guadeloupe, who sometimes come to pay their respects in the small hard chapel at the end of the islet. Departures to the islet are from the town of Vieux-Bourg on Grande-Terre. You can also get there by asking a fisherman for a few euros.
